Welcome to the Tender Shoots Garden Club Network – a national collective of UK garden clubs set up by a novice gardener ( Indy Rana ) during Covid so clubs could work together, have joint online events, share tips & advice, as well as trips to see gardens, share discounts, plus much more. We hold gardening talks over the Autumn Winter months via Zoom. Individuals and clubs are very welcome to join in, it’s open to anyone, there’s no charge to attend, see ‘Programme’ page for zoom link & further information. Or ‘Membership‘ page to become a member.

If you missed the recent talks on the Rothschild Eythrope Walled Garden at Waddeson Manor or the ‘Shrubs are boring’ talk, then the recordings are now available on the Private Members Page.

You will also find the 50% Suttons seeds discount code on the Private Members Page. As well as details of FREE entry on our garden trips.

Indy is now starting to do talks and is available from 2023 to give in person face to face talks to garden clubs in your venue. See the Speakers page for more info.

NEXT ZOOM EVENT Thursday 23rd February @7.30pm – ‘Modernising Garden Clubs Project: Chapter 1’ The start of a project to try to share ideas to help modernise clubs, by making committee roles easier, recruiting new members, appealing to a wider demographic, reducing costs, incorporate new ideas, define what is the future of garden clubs, demonstrate how to easily implement things, plus much much more. Firstly I’ll be focusing on the treasury activities, simplifying it and introducing a card payment service with or (importantly) without a card machine, and (more importantly) with zero transaction fees to go mostly cashless. This will also be useful to non gardening clubs, such as church groups, community groups etc.

Spaces will limited so reserve a place on by registering on the Event Reminder Service below (and importantly forward details to your treasurer etc).

Most recent zoom event Thursday 12th January @7.30pm – Doug Stewart – ’10 NEW must have plants Traveling widely in the UK and visiting many of the leading gardens, which are crammed with fantastic plants gives the opportunity to view many of the newest introductions, many of which we are putting through their paces on the BBC Radio Humberside allotment. Here are just 10 of these plants, which are worthy of a place in every garden…

Doug is an extremely popular & respected horticulturist (regular Tender Shoots members will know he’s one of my personal favourites). He had his own allotment plot at the tender (pun intended) age of 13. He’s got a wide variety of experience working for Hilliers Nurseries, over 20 years I worked in horticultural education, a garden designer, hes also a Professional Associate and senior examiner with the RHS, a horticultural business consultant, and a co-presenter for BBC Radio Humbersides gardening show. (Please check out his website www.dougstewart.co.uk

Everyone is welcome to attend. Please see our Programme page for future dates, information about previous talks and how to join in.

SIGN UP TO OUR TENDERMAIL EVENT REMINDER SERVICE TO BE NOTIFIED OF TALKS (keep an eye on your spam folder for our monthly emails)

We also have a monthly networking zoom meeting for any club to join in with where clubs from across the country will get together to help and support one another. It’s a great way to chat to other clubs and share ideas. The meetings are the first Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm, so even if you just want to sit and listen in, please do join us. You don’t have to be affiliated, it’s open to every club.

As an example of our talks, see below the ‘How to grow Wildflowers’ zoom talk
