Purple Spuds
Healthy Purple Potatoes
As many of you will know, I’m extremely passionate about coloured spuds, primarily for their extremely high healthy antioxidants. I always promote them and each year give away free seed spuds to our garden club members to encourage them to grow them too.
My recommendations for varieties are:
Blaue (aka Blue) Annaliese (smallish spuds, but exceptional reliable cropper)
Purple Majesty (largish spuds, but short storeability so consume first)
Violet Queen (no longer available commercial due to brexit, but excellent storagability)
Heidi Red (aka Heiderot)
Red Emmalie
Purple Rain (is ok, it’s a larger size but is half white half purple)
